The Road to the Chicago Marathon: My Journey of Preparation

As the Chicago Marathon draws near, with less than three months to go, my preparation is in full swing. I’ve been diligently focusing on specific training routines and steadily increasing my mileage. The marathon distance is a formidable challenge, and I’m committed to being as prepared as possible.

This time around, my training regimen is more comprehensive. Alongside my running workouts, I’ve integrated cross-training and strength training into my routine. These are aspects of my training I’ve admittedly neglected in the past, but not anymore. I understand the importance of a balanced approach to building endurance and resilience.

Chicago’s relatively flat course offers an excellent opportunity to push for a personal best. Achieving this requires not just intense training but also adequate rest, recovery, and nutrition. I’m making sure to listen to my body, prioritize sleep, and fuel myself with the right nutrients to support my rigorous training schedule.

This will be my seventh marathon, and the experiences from my previous six have been invaluable. Each race has taught me lessons that I carry forward as I prepare to toe the start line once again.

To all those training for fall marathons, whether in Chicago or elsewhere, I wish you the very best in your preparations. Remember, on race day, it’s you versus yourself. Strive to be the best version of you, and let’s conquer these races together.

Here’s to wish everyone a successful and fulfilling race season ahead! Let’s go!
