On October 13, 2024, I ran the Chicago Marathon, marking my second World Major Marathon. I’d previously tackled the New York City Marathon, first in 2022 and again in 2023, and now, Chicago has joined the list. This was marathon number seven for me, and each race has taught me invaluable lessons, pushing me further along this incredible journey.
Long-distance running is an art—a process that unfolds uniquely for each runner. Marathons have a way of humbling us because, regardless of how well-prepared we might be, unexpected challenges can arise. These moments can shake even the most determined runners, yet they remind us that every run is part of a much larger journey. That’s why I still consider myself a student of this sport; there’s always more to learn, and the process is what makes each mile meaningful.
Chicago didn’t go as planned, but it was a learning experience in every sense. There were obstacles, moments when I had to dig deep and adapt. But I believe that every setback is a setup for growth, and these lessons will fuel my next training cycle. As runners, we chase goals not just for the finish line but for the person we become along the way. I’m confident that the best is yet to come, and I’m more committed than ever to continue pushing forward.
My ultimate goal? To complete all six World Major Marathons—an aspiration shared by many, yet personal to each who take it on. And with Sydney Australia now added as the seventh World Major, the journey has expanded even further, opening new doors and inviting new adventures. Running at this level, at this stage in life, is a blessing I don’t take for granted. The journey has been nothing short of glorious, and I’m deeply grateful for every step, every mile, every lesson.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to those who have crossed my path, sharing words of encouragement, motivation, and unwavering support. Your presence and energy are an incredible part of my journey, and I feel your support with each mile I run. Remember, as you set your own goals, aim high—not just for the destination, but for the journey itself. Because in the end, it’s in the process of getting there that we find the true value of every dream we pursue.
